New Michigan Repeater

A new 146.74 repeater has been installed in the Ann Arbor area, to provide coverage ranging from Lansing to Toledo, Battle Creek to Detroit.

Information provided by Jay WB8TKL – ARROW Communication Association https://w8rp.org/about/

Greetings fellow Arrowheads and area Hams,
Tuesday afternoon I installed the 146.74 repeater at the 200-foot tower near Scio-Church and Zeeb roads west of Ann Arbor. This land is the highest in Washtenaw county and places the antenna at approximately 1200 feet ASL (about 180 feet AGL).  This *should* provide near “Quadrant” coverage ranging from Lansing to Toledo, Battle Creek to Detroit.

While this is *not* an ARROW repeater, it should be of interest to all area Hams across multiple counties.  Feel free to share this information with your local clubs and organizations.

146.74 MHz
-600 KHz offset
Carrier Access (but 100 Hz PL *may* be enabled if/when needed)

NOTE: The 74 *can* be commanded to operate “stand alone” for area drills and exercise or special events (One-Helluva-Ride, Search and Rescue, etc.) and supports “digital” modes (Packet, VARA, MT63, etc.) when operating in stand-alone mode.
Contact me for special instructions (jjn@nuge.com).

The 146.74 is full-time linked into the “IRA” Independent Repeater Assn network of 20+ repeaters all across the State of Michigan.  See the IRA network maps on the W8IRA.ORG website.

The IRA sponsors various Nets, such as:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday – Noon – “Noontime Roundup” ragchew Net
Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 9pm – MI-VHF NTS Traffic Net
Tuesday – Noon – Amateur Newsline
Thursday – Noon – ARRL Newsline
Monday – 5:30pm – After School Net (run by youngsters)
Wednesday – 3:00am – Insomniac Net

Enjoy!
